BANFF GONDOLA UPPER TERMINAL RENOVATIONS
BANFF, ALBERTA

The Banff Gondola Upper Terminal is built on no ordinary construction site. There were just two ways to move materials to its location on top of Sulphur Mountain: helicopter or gondola. Working with the strict weight limits imposed by both methods, the project team would ultimately ship 200 cubic metres of concrete and 130 tons of steel up the mountain—and bring down another 312 tons of concrete, 149 tons of steel and 79 tons of debris.
