SUNCOR PAD 117 FIELD FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION
Fort MCMURRAY, ALBERTA

This steam assisted gravity drainage project—involving 14 well pairs and 51 modules—will deliver a bitumen/water emulsion for processing at a central facility. Instead of a conventional approach to construction, the team tackled the project as if it were a turnaround, using creative whiteboards to manage labour and equipment on the workface. During construction, both the owner and contractor were keenly aware of safety, and the end result was an exemplary total recordable incident rate of zero.
